Having a hard time finding an eft therapist?
Have you been looking on the ICEEFT website and having a hard time finding a EFT therapist who is taking new clients? Everyone seems booked up?
Have you only been looking at supervisors and certified therapists? Are you feeling hesitant to try an “Advanced Training” or “Externship” level therapist?
You probably don’t know the benefits of seeing a therapist in training, so let me share with you.
When I was completing my Externship and Advanced Training levels, I was also working regularly with a supervisor (my main supervisor also happened to be the Trainer for the Toronto Centre, Robin Williams Blake). That meant I was recording most of my sessions (with clients permission of course!) and sharing them with Robin. I was keenly aware of what I was doing and why, from session to session, as an eager learner. What was the benefit to my clients?
I spent one hour with them in our session, then I spent an additional hour “with them” as I watched my tape. I then would take part of that tape or questions I had to talk to Robin for another hour. That means my client got three hours with me, one hour with the EFT trainer in Toronto giving input, which means four hours of expertise from a therapist and a trainer/supervisor, and when they only paid for and took one hour of their own time. If that’s not a good deal, I don’t know what is.
Of course, you don’t have to agree to be taped. It’s an option. For clients who choose to participate, they may get all these benefits.
So if you’re having a hard time finding a Certified EFT Therapist to work with, I encourage you to consider a clinician who it working towards certification. You may benefit more than you realize!
